Prof Nicholas King
Nicholas King holds a Medical and PhD degrees and is Professor and Head of Discipline of Pathology, Founding Director of Sydney Cytometry, a University of Sydney Core Facility, Co-head of the Ramaciotti Facility for Human Systems Biology, and Co-head of a Flagship Program in The University of Sydney Nano Institute.
His research into pathogen-host interactions causing immunopathology in mouse and human models has led to novel approaches to abrogate inflammation in both infectious and non-infectious macrophage-mediated disease, with publications in Nat Biotech, Science Transl Med, Nat Microbiol, J Exp Med, Immunol Rev, Trends Immunol, PLoS Pathogens and Proc Natl Acad Sci (US). He has attracted in the last 10 years, solely or collaboratively, >AU$30M in competitive grant funding.
He has graduated 43 Research Honours, 2 Masters and 29 PhD students and currently supervises 2 PhD students and 3 Post-doctoral Fellows. He was awarded a Vice Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2002 and Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2009.
